Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers

If your smile isn’t as bright and white as you’d like it to be, but you haven’t had much success with ordinary teeth whitening treatments, dental veneers may be the answer. Dental veneers consist of shells of naturally tooth-colored materials that are placed over the surfaces of your teeth and affixed with dental cement. They look and feel just like real teeth, and can be used to fix a variety of dental issues in addition to tooth discoloration or staining.

What is the process for getting dental veneers?

In order to get dental veneers, you will first need to meet with one of our qualified dentists. They will begin the process by first identifying and treating any issues that cannot be fixed by the dental veneers, as well as checking to ensure that you are a good candidate for treatment with this procedure. Once your candidacy has been verified, the dentist will take an impression of your teeth that will be sent to a dental laboratory where your custom dental veneers will be created. This process will generally take between one and two weeks.

Once your veneers are back in our office, you will need to return to have the fit checked. Any necessary adjustments will be made, and then your teeth will be prepared for the veneers. This will require removing about half a millimeter of your tooth enamel. The dental veneers will then be affixed to your teeth with a special dental cement, which will be hardened quickly using a special light.

What dental issues can veneers fix?

While regular teeth whitening treatments can only fix tooth discoloration, dental veneers can be used to fix a number of different cosmetic dentistry issues. These may include:

  • Teeth that have become chipped, cracked, or broken
  • Teeth that have unusual gaps between them
  • Staining due to use of tetracycline or overexposure to fluoride
  • Teeth that have been worn down or are irregularly shaped
  • Teeth that are somewhat misaligned

Dental veneers can be used to repair all of these common cosmetic dentistry issues and give you back the brilliant white smile that you’ve been longing for.
